Role: Vertical Lead – Meteorology

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Vertical Lead – Meteorology to lead aviation weather services supporting airline operations. This leadership role is responsible for delivering accurate weather intelligence, forecasting, operational risk assessment, and decision support in compliance with DGCA regulations, ICAO Annex 3 standards, and WMO guidelines.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the Operations Control Centre (OCC), Flight Dispatch, and airline leadership during routine operations as well as weather-related disruptions.
Experience Required
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Meteorology
- At least 5 years of experience in Aviation Meteorology
- Proven experience leading and managing teams
Educational QualificationEssential
- Master's Degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Atmospheric Physics, Applied Meteorology, Physics, Mathematics, or an equivalent scientific discipline
- Basic and Advanced Aviation Forecaster Courses completed through IMD or Defence Services
Preferred
- Certification in Aviation Meteorology
- Training in ICAO Annex 3 and WMO Aviation Meteorology Standards
Key Responsibilities
- Lead 24×7 meteorological support for airline Operations Control Centre (OCC) and Flight Dispatch.
- Interpret and disseminate METAR, SPECI, TAF, SIGMET, AIRMET, weather charts, tropical cyclone advisories, volcanic ash advisories, and upper-air forecasts.
- Provide operational guidance for weather-related delays, diversions, cancellations, and flight recovery planning.
- Support flight dispatchers and flight crews with weather-based operational decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with DGCA Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR), ICAO Annex 3, WMO standards, and company procedures.
- Lead weather risk management initiatives for monsoon, fog, thunderstorms, cyclones, and other severe weather events.
- Drive implementation of weather dashboards, predictive analytics, AI-enabled forecasting, and operational impact modelling.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of aviation meteorologists and weather specialists.
