Job Summary:
The MGPS Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of the Medical Gas Pipeline System (MGPS) within the hospital. The role ensures uninterrupted supply and safe distribution of medical gases such as oxygen, medical air, nitrous oxide, vacuum, and other gases in compliance with hospital safety standards and statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspection, preventive maintenance, and breakdown maintenance of the Medical Gas Pipeline System.
- Monitor medical gas manifolds, vacuum systems, compressors, and associated equipment.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of medical gases to all patient care areas including ICU, OT, NICU, wards, and emergency departments.
- Check pressure gauges, alarms, valves, regulators, and terminal units regularly.
- Attend emergency breakdowns and rectify faults promptly.
- Maintain daily logbooks and maintenance records of MGPS equipment.
- Coordinate with gas suppliers for cylinder replacement and inventory management.
- Ensure compliance with NABH, safety standards, and hospital policies.
- Conduct leak tests and pressure testing of gas pipelines whenever required.
- Support installation, commissioning, and expansion of medical gas systems.
- Ensure proper functioning of area alarm panels and master alarm systems.
- Follow safety procedures while handling medical gas cylinders and equipment.
- Coordinate with biomedical and engineering teams during maintenance activities.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of Medical Gas Pipeline Systems and components.
- Understanding of oxygen manifolds, vacuum pumps, air compressors, and alarm systems.
- Troubleshooting and preventive maintenance skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards and hospital engineering practices.
- Ability to read technical drawings and maintenance manuals.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer knowledge for documentation and reporting.
Educational Qualification:
- Diploma/ITI in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
- Certification or training in Medical Gas Pipeline Systems is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in MGPS maintenance within hospitals or healthcare facilities.
- Experience in handling medical gas systems, manifolds, vacuum plants, and compressors.
Working Conditions:
- Rotational shifts including weekends and holidays as per hospital requirements.
- Availability for emergency breakdown calls.
- Work involves equipment rooms, plant areas, and clinical departments.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
