Job Summary
The Transport Manager shall be responsible for the overall management and control of the company's transportation operations. The role includes vehicle management, route planning, transporter coordination, expense monitoring, bill verification, fleet maintenance tracking, cost control, and ensuring timely dispatch and delivery of goods. The position requires maintaining accurate records, monitoring departmental performance, and establishing Key Result Areas (KRAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Transport Department.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transport Operations Management
- Plan, organize, and supervise daily transportation activities.
- Ensure timely vehicle placement and dispatch as per operational requirements.
- Coordinate with transporters and internal departments to ensure smooth transportation operations.
- Monitor vehicle movement and delivery schedules.
2. Route Planning & Optimization
- Prepare efficient route plans for all vehicle movements.
- Optimize routes to reduce transportation costs and transit time.
- Monitor route adherence and suggest improvements for operational efficiency.
3. Transport Expense Management
- Maintain complete records of transportation-related expenses.
- Track and analyze fuel costs, toll charges, maintenance expenses, driver expenses, and other transport costs.
- Ensure transportation expenses remain within approved budgets.
- Generate monthly expense reports for management review.
4. Bill Verification & Cost Control
- Verify transporter bills, invoices, and supporting documents before submission for payment.
- Cross-check freight charges, detention charges, loading/unloading charges, and other applicable costs.
- Identify discrepancies and coordinate with transporters for corrections.
- Ensure cost-effective transportation practices.
5. Fleet & Vehicle Management
- Maintain records of all company-owned and hired vehicles.
- Track vehicle maintenance schedules, servicing, repairs, insurance renewals, fitness certificates, permits, and other statutory requirements.
- Ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant with legal regulations.
- Monitor vehicle utilization and performance.
6. Documentation & Record Keeping
- Maintain complete documentation related to transportation operations.
- Prepare and update vehicle-wise expense records.
- Maintain transporter databases and vehicle deployment records.
- Ensure all transport records are accurate and readily available for audits and management review.
7. Transporter Relationship Management
- Coordinate regularly with transport vendors and transporters.
- Ensure vehicle availability for timely dispatches.
- Resolve operational issues and transportation delays.
- Negotiate transportation rates when required.
8. Performance Monitoring
- Develop and implement KRAs and KPIs for the Transport Department.
- Monitor departmental performance against established targets.
- Submit periodic reports and recommendations to management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
9. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations and company policies.
- Monitor driver and vehicle safety standards.
- Maintain records related to statutory transport compliance.

- On-time vehicle placement percentage.
- On-time dispatch percentage.
- Transportation cost per trip.

Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Transport, Logistics, or Fleet Management.
- Strong knowledge of transportation operations and fleet management.
- Experience in cost control, route planning, and transporter management.
Required Skills

Pay: ₹13,778.30 - ₹65,000.00 per month
