Job Overview
The Clinical Counsellor provides critical psychological support, assessment, and therapeutic interventions to patients and their families. Operating within a fast-paced hospital ecosystem, this role requires collaborating with multidisciplinary medical teams to support patients dealing with trauma, chronic illness diagnoses, pre- and post-operative anxiety, and bereavement.
Key Responsibilities
Patient & Family Counseling
- Provide evidence-based psychological counseling and emotional support to inpatients and outpatients facing acute or chronic health conditions.
- Conduct thorough psychological assessments to evaluate patient mental health, coping mechanisms, and emotional readiness for medical procedures.
- Facilitate family counseling sessions to help relatives process medical news, understand treatment plans, and support the patient effectively.
- Deliver crisis intervention and grief counseling in high-stress departments (e.g., ICU, Oncology, Emergency).
Clinical Collaboration
- Partner closely with physicians, nurses, and medical social workers to develop holistic, multidisciplinary patient care plans.
- Participate in ward rounds and case conferences to provide psychological insights on patient behavior and treatment adherence.
- Identify and escalate severe psychiatric conditions to the attending Psychiatrist for specialized intervention or medication.
Administrative & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely clinical notes and patient records in compliance with hospital protocols and medical ethics.
- Design and lead mental health awareness and wellness initiatives for both patients and hospital staff.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Master’s Degree (M.A./M.Sc.) in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field. (Note: Registration with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) or an equivalent professional licensing body is highly preferred.)
- Experience: Minimum 2 to 3 years of hands-on counseling experience specifically within a hospital or clinical healthcare setting.
- Expertise: Strong foundation in psychological assessment tools, crisis intervention protocols, and therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, supportive psychotherapy).

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
