Job Summary
JD for Onto:
The candidate must have a background in mechanical design engineering, with experience in the semiconductor and medical industries preferred.
- Proficient in SolidWorks CAD software, including 3D modeling, sheet metal design, 2D drawing, and assembly creation.
- Good exposure to the conceptual design of various mechanical subsystems.
- Familiar with the design of sheet metal, machined parts, and weldments for different mechanical systems.
- Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Strong experience with engineering change orders (ECOs) and their various phases.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and feasibility, including sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, surface finishing, and 3D printing.
- Good exposure on static and dynamic simulations in SolidWorks is a plus.
- Knowledge of harness and tube routing in SolidWorks is an added advantage.
- Must have experience with technical documentation, such as work instructions, testing procedures, and assembly instructions.
- Good knowledge on Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and design excellence are added advantages.
- Disciplined, team-oriented, capable of working independently, and a results-driven team player.
- Excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate With Stakeholders To Thoroughly Understand And Refine Design Requirements, Ensuring Alignment With Project Objectives And Customer Needs.
2. Develop Prototypes And Proof-Of-Concept Implementations Using Design Tools Such As Cad Software And 3D Modeling, Validating Design Choices And Enhancing Usability.
3. Mentor And Train Junior Designers By Sharing Knowledge And Expertise Through Structured Training Sessions And Comprehensive Documentation, Fostering A Culture Of Learning.
4. Partner With Cross-Functional Teams, Including Engineering And Product Management, To Ensure Software Design Integrates Seamlessly With Overall Project Goals.
5. Work Closely With Quality Assurance Teams To Establish Design Quality Metrics And Maintain High Standards Throughout The Design Process.
Skill Requirements
1. Proficient In Product Design Principles And Techniques With A Strong Understanding Of Design For Manufacturing And Assembly.
2. Familiarity With Geometric Dimensioning And Tolerancing Standards To Ensure Precision In Design Specifications.
3. Experience With Design Software Such As Solidworks, Autocad, Or Similar Tools.
4. Strong Interpersonal And Communication Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Diverse Stakeholders.
Other Requirements
1. Optional But Valuable Certifications Include Certified Solidworks Professional (Cswp) Or Similar Design-Related Certifications.
