A welder is responsible for assembling and repairing metal structures and equipment by using welding techniques and tools. They work in industries like construction, manufacturing, shipbuilding, and automotive.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements
- Set up welding equipment and select proper tools
- Weld metal parts using techniques like arc welding, MIG, TIG, etc.
- Inspect welded surfaces and structures to ensure quality
- Repair damaged metal components
- Maintain welding equipment and tools
- Follow safety procedures and wear protective gear
