Job Summary: The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for generating accurate 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for equipment components and assemblies using CREO and Autodesk Inventor, and publishing them into Windchill. They will also undertake basic mechanical design of static components and assemblies for packaging industrial equipment, using hand calculations, standards, and creating CAD models and drawings for manufacture.
Educational Qualification: B.E or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Full-time course preferred), M. Tech not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creation and PLM release of 3D assemblies, 2D drawings, and technical documentation to Ingersoll Rand and industry standards for new and revised designs.
- Collaboration with Indian and global engineering teams to deliver component and assembly-level design tasks, commitments, and reviews.
- Execution of high-quality CAD support for New Product Development (NPD), Lifecycle, and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) projects.
- Support for after-market technical queries, part obsolescence, replacement, and Windchill change processes.
Technical Skills:
- CAD experience in compressor and packaging (desirable).
- Fundamental understanding of mechanics of materials and structures.
- Demonstrated experience in CREO4, 6, or 9 with some exposure to Inventor 2019.
- Demonstrated experience in piping module for both Creo and Autodesk Inventor.
- Experience with PLM processes using Windchill.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic piping and fittings.
- Familiarity with best 3D modeling practices for casting, machining, sheet metal, fabrication models, and drafting.
- Familiarity with parametric design using family tables.
- Exposure to Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
- Working knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 requirements in drawings.
- Knowledge of tolerance stack-up and ISO system of limits & fits for engineering and assembly drawings (preferred).
- Exposure to ERP system, specifically SAP.
Work Experience:
- Experience in NPD, LCE, or VAVE of packaged machinery, compressors, blowers, vacuum skids, DG sets, etc.
- Minimum 4-6 years’ experience after graduation in the engineering of industrial equipment.
