Organization: Anil Neuro and Trauma Centre
A Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood samples from patients for laboratory testing, transfusions, research, or donations while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and accurate specimen handling. The role supports doctors, nurses, and laboratory staff in delivering timely diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect blood samples using venipuncture, finger-prick, and other approved techniques
- Verify patient identity and ensure correct labeling of specimens
- Maintain proper hygiene, infection control, and safety standards
- Prepare patients before blood collection and explain procedures clearly
- Transport samples safely to the laboratory for testing
- Maintain records of collected samples and patient information
- Monitor and maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies
- Follow hospital protocols and NABH/laboratory guidelines
- Assist in emergency sample collection when required
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and lab technicians for timely diagnostics
Required Qualifications
- DMLT / MLT certification or relevant phlebotomy training
- Prior experience in a hospital or diagnostic center preferred
- Knowledge of specimen collection, handling, and infection control practices
- Good communication and patient-handling skills
- Ability to work in rotational shifts and emergency situations
