The Academic Counselors Team Leader is responsible for managing and guiding a team of academic counselors to ensure effective student guidance, admissions support, academic advising, and student success initiatives. The role involves leadership, performance monitoring, training, and ensuring counseling targets and service quality standards are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Management
Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of academic counselors.
Set performance goals and monitor team KPIs (enrollments, conversions, retention, student satisfaction).
Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.
Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development support.
2. Student Counseling & Guidance
Oversee student counseling for course selection, career pathways, and academic planning.
Handle escalated or complex student cases.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date information is provided about programs, admissions criteria, and policies.
3. Admissions & Enrollment Support
Monitor inquiry-to-enrollment conversion rates.
Develop strategies to improve admissions numbers.
Coordinate with marketing and admissions teams for lead management.
4. Process Improvement & Compliance
Ensure counseling processes comply with institutional policies and regulatory standards.
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting systems.
Implement best practices to improve counseling efficiency and effectiveness.
5. Reporting & Analytics
Prepare weekly/monthly performance reports.
Analyze counseling data and recommend improvements.
Track student feedback and implement corrective measures.
6. Training & Development
Conduct onboarding training for new counselors.
Organize skill development workshops (communication, CRM tools, counseling techniques).
Identify skill gaps and create development plans.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
4–7 years of experience in academic counseling/admissions.
1–3 years of team leadership experience.
