Key Responsibilities1. Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
- Conduct daily site walkthroughs and routine inspections to detect unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and risk assessments for routine, non-routine, and critical plant activities (e.g., confined space entry, hot work, height work).
- Oversee the implementation of strict Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols during maintenance and shutdowns.
2. Statutory Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure strict compliance with the Gujarat Factories Rules, The Factories Act (1948), and state pollution control norms.
- Maintain comprehensive EHS registers, safety checklists, incident logs, and near-miss documentation.
- Assist in drafting monthly safety performance reports, analytical summaries, and legal compliance filings.
3. Incident Investigation & Response
- Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses using formal root-cause analysis.
- Develop and track the implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurrence.
- Lead emergency preparedness efforts, including organizing regular fire drills, mock drills, and maintaining site emergency equipment (fire hydrants, extinguishers, eye-wash stations).
4. Safety Training & Culture
- Conduct mandatory safety orientation for all new permanent employees and third-party contract laborers.
- Organize routine Toolbox Talks (TBT), specialized safety campaigns, and hazard-awareness workshops.
- Promote the proper distribution, maintenance, and 100% usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across all plant zones.
