Job Summary
A Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and supporting financial decision-making. The role typically involves supervising junior accounting staff and coordinating with auditors, tax consultants, and other departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Ensure accuracy of financial records and compliance with accounting standards.
- Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow activities.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and provide required documentation.
- Prepare tax returns, GST/VAT filings, and other statutory reports as applicable.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency.
- Supervise and mentor junior accountants and accounting staff.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
- Support management with financial insights and recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent preferred.
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and taxation.
- Experience with ERP systems and accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Tally, QuickBooks).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
