UI/UX Designer - Senior Designer – AI-First Experiences
EXPERIENCE 4–6 Years
LOCATION India - Hyderabad
EMPLOYMENT TYPE Full-time
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking an accomplished Senior UI/UX Designer to lead the end-to-end design transformation of our digital products — primarily Tutoroot, our K-12 online tutoring platform — while also contributing to our healthcare product, Medleymed and our broader IT services portfolio.
This is a high-impact, high-ownership role positioned at the intersection of product strategy, user experience, and design execution. You will serve as the critical bridge between Product Management and Engineering, translating complex product requirements into intuitive, elegant experiences.
You won't just design screens. You will shape learning journeys, define AI-assisted workflows, and build scalable design systems that directly impact thousands of students, parents, and educators.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
1. Product & Experience Design
- Lead the comprehensive UI/UX overhaul of Tutoroot — improving usability, learner engagement, and measurable learning outcomes
- Translate product requirements and business goals into intuitive, elegant user experiences across web and mobile
- Own end-to-end design for student, parent, and tutor journeys — from onboarding to ongoing engagement
- Produce the full range of design artefacts: user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes
2. AI-First Experience Design
- Design AI-assisted learning experiences including homework helpers, personalised recommendations, and adaptive learning flows
- Define and document human-AI interaction patterns — covering trust signals, explainability, feedback loops, and error states
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams on AI feature UX, including input/output design and edge case handling
- Champion ethical UX principles — bias awareness, algorithmic transparency, and student data safety
3. Product Thinking & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Managers to shape features from first principles — not merely execute on pre-defined specs
- Act as the design voice in product discovery, problem framing, and prioritization discussions
- Translate product intent into engineering-ready specifications, bridging the gap between vision and implementation
- Advocate for user needs using research insights, usability data, and clear design rationale
4. User Research & Continuous Improvement
- Plan and conduct user research, usability testing, and heuristic evaluations to inform design decisions
- Leverage analytics, session recordings, and qualitative feedback to identify friction and iterate rapidly
- Map and continuously improve the end-to-end learning journey — from acquisition through retention and re-engagement
5. Design Systems & Scalability
- Build, maintain, and evolve a scalable design system and component library shared across Tutoroot, Medleymed, and service engagements
- Ensure visual and interaction consistency across all touchpoints and products
- Work hand-in-hand with engineering to ensure accurate design-to-code translation and maintain a healthy handoff workflow
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Core UX & Product Design
- 4–6 years of professional experience in UI/UX or Product Design for web and mobile applications
- Proven ability to own the full design lifecycle — from research and ideation through to shipped product
- Strong foundation in user research methodologies, usability testing, and heuristic evaluation
- Deep expertise in information architecture, interaction design, and visual design principles
- Experience designing complex, multi-sided platforms or products with diverse user personas
Tools & Craft
- Expertise in Figma (strongly preferred); proficiency in Adobe XD or Sketch also valued
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining design systems and component libraries
- Familiarity with developer handoff workflows and tools (e.g., Figma Dev Mode, Zeplin)
AI & Modern UX (Essential)
- Understanding of AI-assisted UX patterns and the unique design challenges of intelligent products
- Ability to design for trust, explainability, and appropriate user control in AI-driven systems
- Experience or strong conceptual fluency in prompt-based workflows, AI copilots, or data-driven personalization (a significant advantage)
Technical Fluency
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles
- Basic familiarity with modern front-end frameworks (React or Angular) sufficient to collaborate effectively on feasibility
- Ability to communicate design decisions in terms that resonate with engineering partners
Communication & Influence
- Compelling design storytelling — able to articulate rationale, present to stakeholders, and defend decisions with data
- Confident and constructive in pushing back when requirements conflict with user needs or design principles
- Comfortable working in fast-moving, cross-functional environments with competing priorities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience in EdTech, B2C marketplaces, or consumer mobile applications
- Exposure to K-12 learning products, tutoring platforms, or educational content design
- Experience designing multi-sided platforms serving distinct user groups (e.g., students, tutors, parents)
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and inclusive design practices
- Background working across both product and professional services environments
PORTFOLIO EXPECTATIONS
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to share a portfolio. Strong portfolios will demonstrate:
End-to-end design thinking — clearly shows the journey from problem definition through to solution and measurable impact- Case studies that evidence product thinking, not just polished UI screens
- A documented research and iteration process — how insights shaped decisions
- Evidence of effective collaboration with product and engineering teams
- Bonus: Work involving AI features, complex multi-step workflows, or adaptive/personalized experiences
