Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and technically skilled Tool Room Incharge to manage tool room activities, including tool maintenance, press tool development, breakdown handling, and preventive maintenance of dies and fixtures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day Tool Room activities and ensure timely completion of tool-related requirements.
- Handle press tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and special-purpose tools.
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance of dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures.
- Attend to tool breakdowns and troubleshooting to minimize production downtime.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and NPD teams for tool-related requirements.
- Monitor tool condition and ensure availability of tools for production.
- Support new tool development, modification, and improvement activities.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, tool drawings, and specifications.
- Coordinate with external tool vendors for tool manufacturing, modification, and repair activities.
- Maintain records related to tool history, maintenance, repair, and modifications.
- Identify opportunities to improve tool life, productivity, and quality.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and identification of tools and dies.
- Follow company quality, safety, and 5S requirements within the tool room.
- Guide and supervise tool room technicians and operators.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of press tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
- Hands-on experience in tool maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of tool room machines and conventional machining processes.
- Ability to read 2D engineering drawings.
- Basic knowledge of Vernier, micrometer, height gauge, and other measuring instruments.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to coordinate with production and other departments.
- Knowledge of 5S, safety, and quality systems.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in the automobile / auto-component manufacturing industry, particularly in sheet-metal stamping and press tool maintenance, will be preferred.
