Job Summary
The E-commerce Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and growing the company's online sales channels. The role involves overseeing website operations, marketplace management, digital merchandising, online marketing coordination, customer experience, and sales performance. The ideal candidate is data-driven, commercially focused, and capable of managing multiple online platforms while improving conversion rates and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
E-commerce Strategy
- Develop and implement the company's e-commerce growth strategy.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual online sales targets.
- Identify new online business opportunities and sales channels.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activities.
Website Management
- Manage the company website and ensure smooth operation.
- Optimize website content, product pages, and navigation.
- Improve user experience (UX) and conversion rates.
- Coordinate with developers for website enhancements.
Marketplace Management
- Manage product listings across marketplaces such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Ajio, or other relevant platforms.
- Optimize listings with SEO-friendly titles, descriptions, keywords, and images.
- Manage promotions, advertisements, and marketplace campaigns.
- Ensure pricing consistency and inventory synchronization.
Product & Inventory Management
- Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to maintain stock availability.
- Ensure accurate product information, specifications, pricing, and images.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent stock-outs and overselling.
Digital Marketing Coordination
- Work with the digital marketing team on:
- Google Ads
- Meta (Facebook & Instagram) Ads
- Email marketing
- SEO
- Social commerce
- Affiliate marketing
- Plan promotional campaigns during festivals and seasonal sales.
Customer Experience
- Monitor customer reviews and ratings.
- Improve order fulfillment and delivery experience.
- Coordinate with customer support for complaint resolution.
- Enhance customer retention through loyalty initiatives.
Sales & Analytics
- Track key performance indicators:
- Revenue
- Conversion rate
- Traffic
- Average Order Value (AOV)
- Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)
- Return on Ad Spend (ROAS)
- Customer Lifetime Value (CLV)
- Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports.
- Use analytics to identify growth opportunities.
Operations
- Coordinate with logistics partners.
- Monitor returns, refunds, and cancellations.
- Ensure timely order processing.
- Maintain marketplace compliance and service-level agreements.
Team Management
- Lead and mentor the e-commerce team.
- Coordinate with marketing, operations, finance, and IT departments.
- Set performance goals and monitor team productivity.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, E-commerce, or a related field.
- MBA preferred.
- 5–8 years of experience in e-commerce or digital retail.
- Experience managing D2C websites and online marketplaces.
- Strong analytical and commercial skills.
Technical Skills
- Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, or similar platforms.
- Marketplace seller panels (Amazon, Flipkart, etc.).
- Google Analytics.
- Google Merchant Center.
- Meta Business Suite.
- Google Ads.
- Excel/Google Sheets (advanced).
- CRM and ERP systems.
- Basic understanding of SEO and digital marketing.
