Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to lead HR operations, statutory compliance, contract labour management, recruitment, payroll, performance management, and policy implementation. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of the Factories Act, labour laws, and industrial HR practices, with experience in the Distillery, Refinery, Chemical, or Manufacturing industry.
Key Responsibilities
1. Statutory Compliance & Labour Laws
i. Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws including the Factories Act, Contract Labour, Minimum Wages, Payment of Wages and other applicable employment laws.
ii. Oversee statutory compliance related to PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund, TDS, and other regulatory requirements.
iii. Maintain statutory registers, records, notices, and ensure timely filing of returns, renewals, and licences.
iv. Coordinate with labour authorities, government departments, inspectors, and statutory consultants during inspections and audits.
2. Contract Labour Management
i. Manage end-to-end compliance of contract labour deployed at the plant.
ii. Verify contractor compliance related to wages, attendance, PF, ESIC, bonus, leave, and statutory documentation.
iii. Conduct periodic contractor audits and ensure compliance with company standards and legal requirements.
iv. Coordinate contractor onboarding, documentation, and workforce management.
3. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
i. Lead end-to-end recruitment for plant and corporate positions.
ii. Develop recruitment strategies and manpower planning in coordination with department heads.
iii. Manage interviews, salary negotiations, offer letters, and joining formalities.
iv. Build and maintain talent pipelines through consultants, job portals, and campus hiring initiatives.
4. Payroll & HR Operations
i. Oversee payroll inputs including attendance, leave, overtime, and statutory deductions.
ii. Ensure accuracy of payroll processing and coordination with finance/payroll teams.
iii. Manage employee lifecycle activities including onboarding, confirmation, transfers, promotions, and exit formalities.
iv. Maintain employee records, HR documentation, and HRMS data accurately.
5. Performance Management System (PMS)
i. Manage the organization's Performance Management System (PMS) and ensure timely completion of appraisal cycles.
ii. Coordinate with department heads for goal setting, KRAs/KPIs, mid-year reviews, and annual performance evaluations.
iii. Analyze performance evaluation results and support management in promotions, increments, succession planning, and employee development.
iv. Ensure fair, transparent, and objective performance evaluation processes aligned with company policies.
6. HR Policies & Employee Relations
i. Develop, implement, review, and communicate HR policies, SOPs, and employee handbook.
ii. Handle employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution professionally.
iii. Drive employee engagement, welfare, and retention initiatives across the organization.
iv. Promote a positive work culture while ensuring discipline and policy compliance.
7. Training & Organizational Development
i. Identify training needs and prepare annual training calendars.
ii. Coordinate technical, behavioural, compliance, and safety training programs.
iii. Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
iv. Support leadership development and succession planning programs.
Requirements
· MBA / PGDM in Human Resources, or equivalent qualification.
· 7–9 years of experience in HR within Distillery, Refinery, Chemical, Manufacturing, or Process Industry.
· Strong knowledge of the Factories Act, Industrial Relations, and all applicable labour laws.
· Hands-on experience in statutory compliance, contract labour management, payroll administration, recruitment, and HR operations.
· Hands-on experience in Performance Management System (PMS), KRA/KPI setting, performance appraisal, and employee performance evaluation.
· Experience in handling government inspections, labour authorities, and statutory consultants.
· Experience with HRMS and payroll software will be an added advantage.
