Job Summary
Assist the Quality and Metallurgy team in performing laboratory tests, maintaining testing equipment, recording results, and supporting quality assurance activities to ensure that investment cast components meet customer and industry standards
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and prepare metal samples for testing.
- Perform chemical analysis using a spectrometer.
- Conduct hardness, microstructure, and mechanical property testing.
- Prepare specimens for metallurgical examination.
- Record and maintain laboratory test reports and quality documents.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments.
- Assist in investigating casting defects and root cause analysis.
- Inspect incoming raw materials and maintain inspection records.
- Follow ISO, safety, and laboratory procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory (5S).
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of metallurgy and investment casting.
- Understanding of laboratory testing methods.
- Familiarity with spectrometer, hardness tester, microscope, and measuring instruments.
- Computer skills (MS Excel, Word).
- Good observation, documentation, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and quality.
Qualification
- Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Engineering.
- B.Sc. (Chemistry/Physics) may also be considered for some companies
Preferred Knowledge
- Investment casting (lost wax process)
- Heat treatment
- ASTM, DIN, or ISO standards
- Quality control and inspection techniques
- Basic NDT knowledge (preferred)
