Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Email Security Engineer with deep expertise in Proofpoint Email Security Gateway to strengthen our global cyber defense program. This role will focus on designing, managing, and optimizing secure email infrastructure to protect against phishing, malware, and advanced threats. The engineer will play a critical role in ensuring secure and reliable communication across our global workforce while maintaining a balance between security, user experience, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain Proofpoint Email Security Gateway and related modules (TAP, TRAP, DLP, encryption, impersonation protection, etc.).
- Develop and manage email security policies for threat prevention, data protection, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor and analyze email traffic, quarantines, logs, and s to identify, investigate, and remediate threats.
- Perform rule set tuning, phishing banner adjustments, and generate reports for continuous optimization.
- Collaborate with SOC, Incident Response, and Threat Intelligence teams to respond to phishing campaigns and advanced email-based threats.
- Provide expertise in user awareness campaigns by correlating security telemetry with phishing simulation results.
- Document configurations, SOPs, and technical controls for global deployment.
- Partner with Microsoft 365 security teams to ensure consistent enforcement of tiered email security controls across platforms.
- Support M&A integrations by onboarding new domains and aligning email security posture with global standards.
- Ensure compliance with internal security requirements and external regulations (GDPR, DORA, ISO, etc.).
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support global operations.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in email security with strong expertise in Proofpoint administration.
- Proficiency in SMTP, DNS (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), TLS, and email routing.
- Solid understanding of phishing tactics, social engineering threats, and Business Email Compromise (BEC).
- Experience with incident response, log analysis, and security reporting.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in enterprise environments.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Proofpoint Certified Administrator (or equivalent certification).
- Experience integrating Proofpoint with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace security ecosystems.
- Familiarity with SIEM tools, SOAR automation, and phishing simulation platforms.
- Knowledge of global regulatory and compliance requirements related to email security and data protection.
