Job Summary
Key Responsibilities • Installation & Configuration: Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle and MySQL software and related products across various platforms (e.g., Linux, Unix, Windows). • Performance Monitoring & Tuning: Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, optimize slow-running SQL queries, and implement performance-enhancing solutions. • Backup & Recovery: Develop, implement, and test robust backup and disaster recovery strategies using tools like Oracle RMAN to prevent data loss and minimize downtime. • Security & Integrity: Implement and maintain security controls, manage user accounts, define access permissions, and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations. • Maintenance & Support: Perform routine maintenance tasks (patching, index rebuilding), troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support and training to users and development teams. • Design & Development Support: Collaborate with developers and data architects on database design, creating schema objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, and triggers. • Automation & Scripting: Create and maintain scripts (Shell, Python, PL/SQL) to automate routine administrative tasks and improve efficiency. Required Skills & Qualifications • Education: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is typically required. • Technical Proficiency: o Strong hands-on experience in Oracle Database Administration (ideally versions 11g, 12c, 19c, etc.) and MySQL management. o Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (Shell, Python). o Familiarity with high-availability solutions (Oracle RAC, Data Guard, MySQL replication) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OCI). o Knowledge of database design principles, data modeling, and ETL processes. • Soft Skills: o Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. o Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. o Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide on-call support for critical issues.
