Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Protection Officer (DPO) to lead and manage the organization’s data protection and privacy compliance program in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), 2023, and other applicable global regulations.
The DPO will be responsible for ensuring compliance, advising leadership, and acting as the point of contact for regulatory authorities and data principals.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), 2023, and other applicable privacy laws
Develop and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and frameworks
Monitor and audit internal data processing activities for compliance
Manage data principal rights processes, including consent, access, correction, and erasure requests
Oversee personal data breach response and regulatory reporting requirements
Act as the primary point of contact for the Data Protection Board of India and other regulatory bodies
Conduct privacy impact assessments and support privacy-by-design initiatives
Drive employee awareness and training programs on data protection
Manage third-party/vendor data protection compliance and agreements
Maintain records of processing activities and data inventories
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field
8–15 years of experience in data protection, privacy, legal compliance, or information security
Strong knowledge of DPDP Act, 2023, and familiarity with global regulations such as GDPR
Relevant certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, ISO 27701, or equivalent preferred
Key Skills
Strong understanding of data protection laws and privacy frameworks
Ability to work cross-functionally with legal, technology, and business teams
Risk assessment and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
High level of integrity and ability to operate independently
Other Requirements
Ability to operate independently with no conflict of interest
Experience in global or multi-jurisdictional environments is preferred
Exposure to platform-based or supply chain businesses is an advantage
