Role Overview
The GIS / AutoCAD Engineer bridges the gap between engineering design and spatial data management. You will prepare, manipulate, and convert civil engineering drawings and spatial maps, ensuring seamless data integration between AutoCAD (including Map 3D / Civil 3D) and enterprise Geographic Information Systems (GIS).Key Responsibilities
- Drawing & Map Management: Prepare, edit, and manipulate civil engineering and utility drawings using AutoCAD software. Maintain secure files of existing site plans, spatial layouts, and digital maps.
- Data Integration: Convert, import, and export spatial data between CAD formats (.dwg, .dxf) and GIS geodatabases (ESRI File Geodatabase, Shapefiles).
- Spatial Analysis & QA/QC: Perform spatial analysis, coordinate system transformations, and rigorous data validation and quality control (QA/QC) checks on project deliverables.
- Collaboration: Work with engineering and surveying teams to integrate field survey data, GPS inputs, and as-built drawings into master GIS infrastructure databases.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s or Diploma degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, GIS, Geomatics, or a related discipline.
- Software Proficiency:
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Map 3D or Civil 3D (Planning and Analysis workspace).
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or enterprise ArcGIS infrastructure.
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of spatial data models, coordinate reference systems (CRS), projections, and geodatabase management principles.
- Experience: 1 to 4 years of professional experience handling combined GIS and CAD workflows.
