Job Summary:
Responsible for setting up and operating VMC machines for New Product Development (NPD) parts, ensuring correct tooling, fixture setup, and maintaining required quality standards during trial and production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform VMC machine setting for new development parts (NPD parts).
- Set up fixtures, cutting tools, and offsets as per drawing requirements.
- Read and understand 2D/3D drawings and process sheets.
- Conduct trial runs and prove-out of new parts.
- Ensure dimension accuracy using measuring instruments like Vernier, Micrometer, Height gauge, Bore gauge, etc.
- Support process improvement and cycle time reduction.
- Coordinate with Quality, Production, and Design teams during development stage.
- Maintain machine cleanliness and follow safety procedures.
- Record and report process parameters and inspection results.
Required Skills:
- Good knowledge of VMC machine setup and tooling selection.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T basics.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, and fixtures.
- Experience in NPD part trials and process proving.
- Basic understanding of CNC programs and offsets.
Experience:
- 3 – 5 years experience in VMC machine setting (preferably in NPD / development parts).
