We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Colorist to join our Post-Production team and enhance the visual quality of our films by creating consistent, cinematic, and emotionally engaging color grades.
Position Overview
The Colorist will be responsible for the color correction and color grading of wedding films, commercial projects, documentaries, and other video productions. The ideal candidate should possess a strong artistic eye, technical expertise in color grading software, and an understanding of visual storytelling to create a consistent cinematic look that aligns with Magic Motion Media's creative standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Color Correction & Color Grading
- Perform primary and secondary color correction to achieve accurate color balance and exposure.
- Develop cinematic color grades that complement the mood and storytelling of each project.
- Match shots captured using different cameras, lenses, and lighting conditions.
- Ensure consistency in color throughout the entire film.
2. Creative Enhancement
- Enhance the overall visual appeal while preserving natural skin tones and image quality.
- Create custom looks and LUTs based on project requirements.
- Collaborate with editors and filmmakers to achieve the desired visual style.
- Recommend creative grading approaches that elevate the final output.
3. Technical Quality Control
- Review footage for exposure, white balance, color inconsistencies, noise, and other visual issues.
- Ensure all deliverables meet company quality standards before final export.
- Verify grading accuracy across different display devices and formats.
- Maintain color consistency for online, broadcast, and cinematic outputs.
4. Workflow Management
- Organize project files and grading timelines efficiently.
- Manage project deadlines and prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Maintain proper version control and project backups.
- Ensure timely completion of grading assignments without compromising quality.
5. Collaboration
- Work closely with Editors, Cinematographers, and the Post-Production team throughout the post-production process.
- Participate in creative discussions and provide technical input during project reviews.
- Support editors in resolving technical issues related to footage and grading.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging grading techniques, and advancements in post-production workflows.
- Research and implement new LUTs, plugins, and grading techniques where appropriate.
- Contribute ideas to improve the department's efficiency and visual quality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Film, Media, Visual Communication, Multimedia, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience as a Colorist or in a similar post-production role.
- Experience working on wedding films, documentaries, or cinematic productions is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve (mandatory).
- Strong understanding of:
- Color theory
- Exposure
- Contrast
- White balance
- Skin tone correction
- HDR and SDR workflows
- Knowledge of camera color science (Canon, Sony, Blackmagic, RED, etc.).
- Experience working with LOG footage and RAW formats.
- Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects is an added advantage.
- Understanding of codecs, color spaces, and export workflows.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per hour
