- Machine Setup & Operation: Assembling the extracorporeal circuit, priming the dialyzer, mixing the dialysate bath, and calibrating equipment according to the patient's specific prescription.
- Vascular Access: Preparing and evaluating the patient's access site (e.g., AV fistula, graft, or catheter) and expertly cannulating the site to start and stop the flow of blood.
- Patient Monitoring: Watching the patient and machine closely throughout the 3- to 4-hour procedure. Technicians track vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate) and respond to both clinical complications and machine alarms.
- Sanitization & Safety: Adhering to strict biomedical waste disposal and infection control policies, and decontaminating equipment between uses.
