Job Summary:
The Nephrologist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients suffering from kidney-related diseases and disorders. The role includes providing outpatient and inpatient care, supervising dialysis services, managing chronic kidney disease (CKD), and ensuring high standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic kidney diseases.
- Evaluate and manage patients with hypertension related to kidney disorders.
- Manage patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Acute Kidney Injury (AKI), nephrotic syndrome, and electrolyte imbalances.
- Provide consultation services for hospitalized and outpatient patients.
- Assess patients requiring dialysis and kidney replacement therapy.
- Monitor and manage hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients.
- Interpret laboratory investigations, imaging studies, and renal biopsies.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and monitor patient progress.
- Coordinate care with other specialists and healthcare professionals.
Patient Care & Safety
- Ensure high-quality patient care and safety standards.
- Educate patients and families regarding kidney diseases, treatment options, diet, and preventive measures.
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
- Follow hospital infection control and patient safety protocols.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, and quality improvement programs.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and medical ethics.
- Assist in developing clinical protocols and treatment guidelines.
- Support hospital health awareness programs and camps related to kidney health.
Teaching & Training
- Guide and train junior doctors, nursing staff, and paramedical staff.
- Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs and academic activities.
- Stay updated with advancements in nephrology and renal care.
Qualification
- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- MD/DNB in General Medicine.
- DM/DNB in Nephrology.
- Valid registration with the appropriate Medical Council.
Experience
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience as a Nephrologist (preferred).
- Experience in managing dialysis units and critical nephrology cases is desirable.
Skills Required
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
- Expertise in dialysis management and renal care.
- Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Sound knowledge of NABH and patient safety standards.
Working Conditions
- OPD, IPD, ICU, Dialysis Unit, and Emergency consultations.
- May require emergency and on-call duties as per hospital requirements.
Pay: ₹125,360.28 - ₹330,991.63 per month
