Role Summary
The Cloud Engineer is responsible for administering and supporting the Water Group’s cloud infrastructure, with primary focus on Microsoft Azure, Azure Entra ID (identity services), and cloud hosted resources. This role ensures secure, reliable, and scalable cloud operations while enforcing administrative separation between corporate and operating company environments.
Cloud Engineer will support Azure workloads, identity governance, cloud networking, storage, and collaboration platforms such as SharePoint and OneDrive. The role also collaborates with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to maintain a cybersafe cloud posture.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure Management

Administer Azure subscriptions, resource groups, storage and networking components.

Support VM provisioning, scaling, patching, backup, and monitoring.

Maintain secure configurations using Azure policies, RBAC, and resource governance.
Identity & Access Management
-
Manage Azure Entra ID, including users, groups, roles, and conditional access policies.

Enforce privilege access and support MFA, identity protection, and access reviews.
-
Maintain strong separation between corporate tenants and operating company tenants.
Cloud Security & Compliance
-
Ensure Azure environments follow cybersecurity and compliance requirements.
-
Security posture management, vulnerability remediation and configuration hardening.
-
Monitor Azure Security Center/Defender alerts and respond promptly.
Collaboration Platform Support
-
Administer SharePoint Online and OneDrive, including permissions, storage, sharing controls, and data governance.

Support collaboration with access issues and ensure secure data lifecycle management.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting

Monitor cloud infrastructure for availability, performance, and security events.

Investigate cloud outages, permission issues, connectivity problems, and VM failures.

Assist in incident response for cloud or identity-related events.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement

Maintain Azure documentation, runbooks, cloud diagrams, and standards.
-
Recommend improvements for cost optimization, automation, and cloud maturity.

Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
-
Total 3 – 5 yrs of experience. Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

Experience managing Microsoft Azure environments (compute, network, identity, storage).

Hands on experience with Azure Entra ID identity administration.
-
Understanding of cloud networking (VNets, VPN gateways, NSGs, routing).
-
Experience supporting cloud hosted collaboration services (SharePoint, OneDrive).
Preferred
-
Knowledge of hybrid cloud architecture and VPN connectivity.

Experience with PowerShell, Azure CLI, or automation tooling.

Familiarity with security tools such as Azure Defender, Sentinel, or Conditional Access.

Azure certifications (AZ 104, AZ 900, or equivalent).
