Job Summary
The Microbiologist performs microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, water, environmental samples, and packaging materials to ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities -
Test raw materials, finished products, water, and environmental samples. - Prepare media, reagents, and lab solutions. - Perform microbial identification and enumeration. - Monitor hygiene through swab and air sampling. - Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment. - Record and maintain accurate lab documentation. - Investigate OOS results and support CAPA. - Ensure compliance with GLP, GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000, and FSSAI. - Coordinate with Production and QA teams. - Manage lab inventory and consumables. - Support audits and inspections. - Maintain lab cleanliness, safety, and waste disposal.
Qualifications -
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food Technology, or related field. - 1–5 years of microbiology lab experience preferred.
Skills -
Knowledge of microbiological testing and aseptic techniques. - Understanding of GLP, GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000, and FSSAI. - Ability to interpret results and prepare reports. - Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills. - Proficiency in MS Office and lab documentation.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - Timely completion of testing. - Accurate results and documentation. - Compliance with quality and food safety standards. - No critical lab non-conformities during audits. - Timely closure of investigations and CAPA.
