Position Summary: The Architectural Draftsman will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans for buildings and structures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of architectural design principles, excellent technical drawing skills, and proficiency in CAD software. This role involves close collaboration with architects, engineers, and other professionals to ensure that designs are accurately represented and meet all necessary codes and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed architectural drawings and plans using CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
- Interpret architectural and engineering sketches, specifications, and related data to develop comprehensive drawings.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other team members to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Revise and update drawings as necessary, incorporating feedback and changes from project stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation of design presentations and construction documents.
- Ensure that all drawings and plans adhere to applicable building codes, zoning laws, and regulations.
- Conduct site visits to gather measurements and other relevant information as needed.
- Maintain organized records of all drawings, plans, and related documents.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and advancements in drafting technology.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or diploma in architectural drafting, CAD technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Architectural Draftsman or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Revit.
- Strong understanding of architectural and engineering principles.
- Excellent technical drawing skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of building codes, zoning laws, and regulations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with 3D modeling software, such as SketchUp or Rhino.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes.
- Previous experience in residential, commercial, or industrial project drafting.
