We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing Specialist to manage and oversee medical billing processes, insurance claims, and patient accounts. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate coding, timely claim submissions, and compliance with healthcare regulations to maximize revenue and minimize claim denials.
Key Responsibilities
- Review patient medical records and assign accurate medical codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
- Prepare, submit, and follow up on insurance claims with government and private payers
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
- Identify, investigate, and resolve denied or rejected claims
- Ensure compliance with healthcare laws, insurance policies, and billing regulations
- Post payments, adjustments, and reconcile accounts receivable
- Communicate with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients regarding billing issues
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Generate billing reports and support audits when required
- Coordinate with front desk, clinical staff, and management to improve billing accuracy
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, commerce, or a related field (preferred)
- Certification in Medical Billing and Coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is an advantage
- 1–3 years of experience in medical billing or revenue cycle management
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Familiarity with insurance portals and billing software
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency in MS Office and healthcare management systems
Preferred Skills
- Experience with hospital or multi-specialty clinic billing
- Knowledge of denial management and accounts receivable follow-up
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Understanding of compliance, audits, and regulatory requirements
