The Accountant is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the institution, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, processing financial transactions, preparing financial statements, supporting audits, and assisting in budgetary and financial management to ensure transparency, accuracy, and accountability.
Key Result Areas (KRAs)
- Maintain books of accounts in accordance with applicable accounting standards and institutional policies.
- Record and verify all financial transactions, including receipts, payments, journal entries, and bank transactions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable efficiently.
- Process salary, reimbursements, honorarium, scholarships, and other payments accurately and on time.
- Prepare and monitor budgets in coordination with departments.
- Reconcile bank accounts, cash books, ledgers, and other financial records regularly.
- Ensure timely deduction and deposit of statutory dues, including TDS, GST (where applicable), PF, ESI, Professional Tax, and other government levies.
- Maintain records of fixed assets and assist in asset verification.
- Coordinate internal and statutory audits and ensure timely compliance with audit observations.
- Prepare financial reports required by AICTE, UGC, PCI, BCI, NMC, NAAC, NBA, NIRF, state government authorities, and funding agencies.
- Monitor fee collections and reconcile student fee accounts with the ERP.
- Maintain grant, research project, consultancy, and scholarship accounts wherever applicable.
- Ensure proper maintenance of vouchers, invoices, supporting documents, and financial records.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow statements.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and institutional records.
- Support implementation and efficient utilization of ERP/accounting software.
- Ensure compliance with Income Tax Act, GST provisions, Companies Act/Trust/Society regulations (as applicable), and other statutory requirements.
- Prepare periodic financial MIS reports for management.
- Perform any other finance and accounts-related duties assigned by the Registrar, Finance Officer, or Management.
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com.) from a recognized university.
- Preferred: M.Com., MBA (Finance), CA (Inter), CMA (Inter), or equivalent professional qualification.
- Proficiency in Tally Prime/ERP systems, MS Excel, and accounting software.
Experience
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in finance and accounts in a university, college, educational institution, corporate organization, or government/semi-government organization.
- Experience in educational institution accounting, fee management, payroll, statutory compliance, and audit coordination is desirable.
- Working knowledge of ERP-based accounting systems and financial reporting.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
