1. Job Purpose
The Dean – CSE will provide academic, administrative, strategic, and industry leadership to the Computer Science & Engineering department. The role involves ensuring academic excellence, strengthening research and innovation, improving student outcomes and placements, developing industry partnerships, and leading faculty development in line with the vision and objectives of PCTE Group of Institutes.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Academic Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership for all academic programmes under CSE.
- Ensure effective planning and timely completion of the academic calendar and syllabus.
- Monitor teaching quality, course delivery, student attendance, academic performance, and learning outcomes.
- Review and strengthen curriculum in line with NEP, AICTE, UGC and relevant regulatory/accreditation requirements.
- Promote outcome-based education, experiential learning, project-based learning, and technology-enabled teaching.
- Conduct regular academic reviews with HODs and faculty members.
- Ensure effective implementation of internal assessments, examinations, practicals, projects, and academic documentation.
- Identify academic gaps and implement corrective action plans.
B. Faculty Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead and mentor HODs, faculty members, and technical staff.
- Define academic and professional goals for faculty members.
- Review faculty performance through measurable KPIs.
- Identify faculty training and development requirements.
- Encourage faculty members to pursue certifications, FDPs, research, consultancy, and industry exposure.
- Maintain a strong culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in faculty recruitment and selection for CSE and allied areas.
C. Research, Innovation & Development
- Develop a strong research culture within the department.
- Encourage publications in reputed Scopus/WoS/UGC-recognized journals and conferences.
- Promote funded research projects, consultancy, patents, copyrights, and technology transfer.
- Establish research groups/labs in emerging areas such as:
- Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
- Data Science
- Cybersecurity
- Cloud Computing
- Internet of Things
- Blockchain
- Robotics & Automation

- High-Performance Computing
- Encourage students to participate in hackathons, coding competitions, innovation challenges, and research projects.
D. Industry & Corporate Relations
- Develop strong relationships with leading technology companies, MNCs, startups, and IT organizations.
- Establish industry partnerships and MoUs for internships, placements, projects, training, and research.
- Invite industry experts for guest lectures, workshops, masterclasses, and curriculum discussions.
- Facilitate industry visits and live projects.
- Strengthen industry-integrated learning and employability initiatives.
- Identify emerging industry skill requirements and incorporate them into academic planning.
E. Training & Placement
- Work closely with the Training & Placement Department to improve placement outcomes for CSE students.
- Monitor placement percentage, average package, highest package, and quality of recruiters.
- Develop a strategy to attract reputed IT companies and global technology brands.
- Promote industry certifications and job-oriented technical training.
- Track student employability and identify skill gaps.
- Support students in internships, live projects, competitions, and career development.
F. Accreditation & Quality Assurance
- Lead CSE-related preparation for NAAC, NBA, NIRF, AICTE and other statutory/accreditation requirements, as applicable.
- Ensure proper maintenance of academic records, departmental files, course files, lesson plans, assessment records, and outcome documentation.
- Monitor Programme Outcomes (POs), Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs), Course Outcomes (COs), and attainment.
- Ensure continuous quality improvement based on feedback and academic data.
- Coordinate effectively with IQAC and institutional quality teams.
G. Student Development
- Promote academic excellence and overall student development.
- Monitor student performance and progression.
- Establish effective mentoring and counselling mechanisms.
- Encourage participation in:
- Hackathons
- Coding competitions
- Technical clubs
- Conferences
- Workshops
- Entrepreneurship activities
- Innovation programmes
- Address student academic concerns in coordination with HODs and faculty.
H. Infrastructure & Laboratories
- Plan and monitor the development of CSE laboratories and computing infrastructure.
- Ensure adequate hardware, software, networking, cloud resources, and other technical facilities.
- Recommend procurement and upgradation of technology infrastructure.
- Ensure effective utilization and maintenance of laboratories.
- Develop advanced labs aligned with industry and emerging technologies.
I. Administration & Governance
- Conduct regular meetings with HODs, faculty, and technical staff.
- Prepare departmental academic and strategic plans.
- Monitor departmental budgets and resource utilization.
- Submit periodic performance reports to the Director/Management.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
- Handle academic and administrative issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate with other Deans, HODs, HR, T&P, Examination, Admissions, and other departments.

The Dean – CSE will be evaluated on measurable outcomes including:

4. Educational Qualification
- Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering / Computer Applications / Information Technology or a closely related discipline from a recognized university.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Applications, or a relevant discipline.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering/computing discipline.
- Qualifications should be in accordance with applicable UGC/AICTE norms.
5. Experience
- Preferably 15+ years of academic/industry experience, including substantial experience in academic leadership.
- Proven experience as Dean / Director / HOD / Professor / Academic Administrator in a reputed institution.
- Strong experience in academic administration and institutional development.
- Experience with NBA/NAAC/NIRF/AICTE processes will be highly preferred.
- Demonstrated research and publication record.
- Strong industry and corporate network will be an added advantage.
