A hospital laboratory technician (MLT) is a critical healthcare professional who analyzes patient samples—such as blood, tissue, and urine—to aid doctors in diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases. They operate complex machinery, perform lab tests, maintain equipment, and ensure strict quality control and safety protocols.
· Sample Collection & Handling: Responsible for drawing blood, collecting samples, and properly labeling specimens to ensure patient identification.
· Diagnostic Testing: Perform laboratory tests including, but not limited to, hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, and immunology tests
· Analysis & Data Recording: Use specialized equipment like microscopes, automated analyzers, and computers to detect abnormal cells or pathogens, recording results in patient records.
· Equipment Maintenance & Quality Control: Regularly calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments to ensure accurate and reliable results.
· Safety Adherence: Follow strict biosafety protocols, including the sterilization of equipment and proper disposal of biohazardous waste.
· Reporting: Communicate findings and test results to physicians and healthcare providers promptly.
· Audit & Compliance: Prepare data and documents for internal and external audits. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, licensing requirements, and lab accreditation norms.
· Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of laboratory processes (Hematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Clinical Pathology). Ability to manage team, workflow, and emergencies. Good communication and coordination skills. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability. Technical proficiency with lab equipment and LIS software.
Pay: ₹14,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
