We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in product design, sheet metal parts design, CNC machining, and 3D printing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical components and assemblies for our innovative products.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Design & Development: Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for new and existing products.
- CAD Modeling & Drafting: Create 3D models, detailed 2D drawings, and manufacturing documentation using CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Sheet Metal Design: Develop and optimize sheet metal components, ensuring manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and structural integrity.
- CNC Machining & Manufacturing: Design parts for CNC machining, select appropriate materials, and collaborate with machinists to optimize production.
- 3D Printing & Rapid Prototyping: Design components for additive manufacturing (3D printing) and validate prototypes for functional testing.
- Material Selection & Analysis: Choose appropriate materials based on mechanical properties, cost, and manufacturability.
- Testing & Validation: Conduct tolerance analysis, feasibility studies, and mechanical testing to ensure product reliability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and production teams to ensure seamless product integration.
- Vendor & Supplier Coordination: Collaborate with vendors and suppliers for material sourcing, manufacturing feasibility, and cost optimization.
- Documentation & Standards Compliance: Maintain design documentation, BOMs, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical design and manufacturing.
Technical Skills:
- CAD Software: Proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360.
- Sheet Metal Design: Experience in designing components for laser cutting, bending, and welding.
- CNC Machining: Understanding of G-code, tolerances, surface finishes, and machining operations.
- 3D Printing: Familiarity with FDM, SLA, or SLS printing technologies and design constraints.
- DFM & DFA: Knowledge of design for manufacturability and assembly principles.
- Material Selection: Understanding of metals, plastics, and composites.
- Analysis Tools: Familiarity with FEA, stress analysis, and tolerance stack-up analysis is a plus.
Preferred Skills (Bonus Points)
- Experience in robotics, medical devices, or industrial automation.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing.
- Exposure to industry standards (ISO, ASME, ASTM, or FDA regulations for medical devices).
