Job Description Manager – Central Inventory Planning & Supply Chain Control1. Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to ensure that the company’s inventory, production planning, depot replenishment, procurement requirements, stock movement and price allocation are managed in a highly disciplined and optimized manner.
The person will be responsible for ensuring that all branches/depots/warehouses and factories maintain the right stock at the right time, without overstocking, understocking, loss of sale, dead stock accumulation or unnecessary cash flow blockage.
The role will act as a central planning and control function between:
· Head Office
· Branches / Depots / Warehouses
· Factories
· Production Team
· Procurement Team
· Dispatch / Logistics Team
· Sales Team
· Finance / Accounts Team
· Outsourcing / Import Vendors
The main objective is to build a system where inventory is always available for business growth, but at the same time inventory investment remains controlled and productive.
4. Ideal Candidate Profile Education
· MBA / PGDM in Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics or Business Management
· Graduate with strong experience in inventory planning, production planning and ERP-based stock control
Preferred experience:
· 7 to 12 years in supply chain, inventory planning, production planning, warehouse coordination or demand planning
· Experience in paints, chemicals, building materials, FMCG, adhesives, industrial products or multi-SKU manufacturing business will be preferred
· Experience of handling multiple depots, branches, warehouses or factories
· Experience in ERP-based inventory control is necessary
· Experience in production planning and procurement requirement planning will be highly valuable

The candidate should have strong working knowledge of:

Key Objective of the Role
The main objective of this role is to ensure:
1. No loss of sale due to stock unavailability
2. No unnecessary overstocking at depots or factories
3. Proper reorder level and minimum stock level at every branch
4. Proper production planning based on branch requirement and sales trend
5. Proper procurement requirement planning for raw material and packaging material
6. Timely dispatches to branches and depots
7. Slow-moving and non-moving stock is regularly reviewed and liquidated
8. Damaged, B-class and C-class stock is properly identified and actioned
9. Inventory rotation is maintained
10. Cash flow is not blocked in unproductive inventory
11. Price lists are correctly created, updated and allocated to branches/customers
12. New product launches are planned with proper initial stock and replenishment system
Detailed Job ResponsibilitiesA. Branch / Depot Inventory Planning
The person will be responsible for managing inventory planning for all company branches, depots and warehouses.
Responsibilities include:
· Monitor stock levels of all depots and branches on a daily / weekly basis
· Analyze SKU-wise stock movement at every depot
· Identify fast-moving, slow-moving and non-moving products
· Define minimum stock level, maximum stock level and reorder level for every branch
· Ensure that no branch faces stock-out of key running products
· Ensure that depots do not carry unnecessary excess stock
· Review branch-wise stock ageing and take corrective action
· Ensure proper stock rotation between branches wherever required
· Monitor product-wise, shade-wise, pack-size-wise and category-wise inventory
· Identify products causing inventory blockage
· Coordinate with branch teams for realistic stock requirements
· Check whether branch stock requirement is based on actual movement or assumption
· Ensure timely replenishment of stock from factory or central warehouse
· Share dispatch plan and stock availability status with branches
B. Reorder Level and Minimum Threshold Planning
The person will create a scientific stock planning system for every depot.
Responsibilities include:
· Define SKU-wise reorder level for every branch
· Define minimum and maximum stock quantity for every product
· Review reorder levels based on seasonality, sales trend and launch focus
· Maintain higher stock for fast-moving and strategic products
· Control stock holding of slow-moving and low-demand products
· Create separate planning for high-value products, regular products and low-value products
· Create safety stock norms for critical SKUs
· Review and update stock norms monthly
· Ensure ERP reflects correct reorder levels and stock planning parameters
C. Loss of Sale Control
The person will be accountable for reducing business loss due to non-availability of material.
Responsibilities include:
· Track stock-out cases at depot level
· Track pending orders due to stock unavailability
· Identify products where repeated stock-outs are happening
· Coordinate with factory and dispatch team for urgent replenishment
· Ensure high-demand products are always available
· Maintain proper communication with sales and branch teams about material availability
· Prepare weekly loss-of-sale report
· Highlight critical shortages to management in advance
· Ensure new product focus items are not unavailable during launch period
D. Slow-Moving, Non-Moving and Dead Stock Control
The person will be responsible for controlling ageing inventory.
Responsibilities include:
· Prepare monthly slow-moving and non-moving stock report
· Identify stock lying unsold for 30, 60, 90, 120 and 180+ days
· Prepare action plan for stock liquidation
· Coordinate with sales team to push slow-moving stock
· Transfer stock from low-demand branches to high-demand branches
· Suggest schemes or special liquidation plans wherever required
· Identify products that should not be produced further
· Highlight excess stock to management before it becomes dead stock
· Track improvement in stock ageing month by month
· Prepare branch-wise responsibility report for excess and dead stock
E. Damaged Stock, B-Class and C-Class Stock Management
The person will be responsible for creating a proper action plan for damaged, B-class and C-class stock.
Responsibilities include:
· Identify damaged, expired, old, B-class and C-class stock at depots and factories
· Prepare monthly report of such stock
· Categories stock into repairable, reprocess able, saleable with discount, returnable, disposable or write-off category
· Coordinate with factory team to check whether material can be reprocessed or corrected
· Coordinate with sales team for liquidation of usable B-class stock
· Coordinate with accounts for approval of write-off or knock-off wherever required
· Ensure damaged stock does not remain unnoticed in warehouses
· Create a proper disposal and approval process
· Maintain documentation for all damaged / B-class / C-class stock actions
F. Factory Inventory Planning
The person will also monitor inventory lying at factory level.
Responsibilities include:
· Check finished goods stock lying at each factory
· Monitor stock availability at wood coating factory, enamel factory and water-based paint factory
· Review factory-wise fast-moving, slow-moving and non-moving finished goods
· Check whether factory stock is aligned with depot requirements
· Ensure excess production does not happen without actual requirement
· Ensure factory maintains required buffer stock for important SKUs
· Coordinate with factory team for production priority
· Monitor old stock at factory and create action plan for liquidation
· Identify stock that can be repacked, reprocessed, corrected or transferred
G. Production Planning
The person will play a key role in production requirement planning.
Responsibilities include:
· Collect requirements from all branches and depots
· Analyze current stock available at depots and factories
· Prepare net production requirement
· Share production plan with factory / production team
· Priorities production based on urgency, sales potential and stock-out risk
· Plan production for regular products, seasonal products and launch products
· Ensure production planning is based on data and not random demand
· Track production completion against plan
· Coordinate with dispatch team for movement of produced material
· Review production delays and highlight impact on sales
· Avoid excess production of slow-moving products
· Ensure production plan is aligned with cash flow and inventory norms
H. Raw Material and Packaging Material Requirement Planning
Based on production requirements, the person will coordinate with procurement for material planning.
Responsibilities include:
· Prepare raw material requirement based on production plan
· Prepare packaging material requirement based on production plan
· Share procurement requirement with purchase department in advance
· Ensure critical raw materials and packing materials are available for production
· Highlight shortage of raw material or packing material before production gets affected
· Coordinate with procurement for delivery timelines
· Track imported material requirements and expected arrival timelines
· Coordinate for outsourced products and third-party manufacturing requirements
· Ensure procurement is aligned with actual demand and not over-purchasing
· Help reduce excess raw material and packaging material inventory
I. Outsourced and Imported Product Planning
The person will also manage planning for products that are procured from outside or imported.
Responsibilities include:
· Track requirement of outsourced products
· Plan procurement quantity based on sales trend and stock position
· Maintain minimum stock level for outsourced products
· Track lead time of outsourced and imported materials
· Coordinate with purchase/import team for timely ordering
· Avoid stock-out due to long procurement lead time
· Avoid excess import or outsourcing without proper demand planning
· Track vendor-wise supply delays
· Maintain report of outsourced product availability
J. Dispatch and Replenishment Coordination
The person will coordinate timely dispatches to all branches and depots.
Responsibilities include:
· Prepare depot-wise dispatch requirement
· Coordinate with dispatch and logistics team
· Ensure material is dispatched as per priority
· Share dispatch details with branch teams
· Track pending dispatches
· Track material in transit
· Ensure branch teams are informed about what material is being sent
· Compare branch requirement vs actual dispatch
· Follow up for short dispatches or delayed dispatches
· Help reduce urgent and unplanned dispatches through better planning
K. Price List Creation and Allocation
The person will be responsible for price list coordination and allocation.
Responsibilities include:
· Maintain updated product-wise price list
· Create and update price lists as per management approval
· Allocate correct price list to branches, depots and customers
· Ensure ERP has correct price list mapping
· Ensure old or incorrect price lists are not used
· Coordinate with sales and accounts for special customer price allocation
· Maintain approval records for customer-specific pricing
· Ensure price revisions are implemented on time
· Avoid billing errors due to incorrect price list allocation
· Maintain master data for product pricing and customer pricing categories
L. New Product Launch Planning
The person will support new product launches by ensuring proper inventory and replenishment planning.
Responsibilities include:
· Plan initial launch stock for branches and depots
· Coordinate with product / sales / factory team for launch quantity
· Ensure new products are available at required branches before launch
· Monitor initial movement of new products
· Adjust production and replenishment based on actual sales response
· Avoid overstocking of new products without market response
· Ensure sales team has clarity about stock availability
· Prepare launch stock report and replenishment plan
· Track branch-wise launch performance and stock movement
M. ERP, Data and MIS Control
The person will be responsible for maintaining data discipline.
Responsibilities include:
· Ensure ERP stock data is regularly checked
· Identify mismatch between physical stock and ERP stock
· Coordinate with branches for stock correction
· Maintain SKU-wise stock reports
· Maintain depot-wise stock ageing reports
· Maintain production requirement reports
· Maintain procurement requirement reports
· Maintain pending dispatch reports
· Maintain slow-moving and non-moving stock reports
· Maintain price list allocation records
· Create management dashboard for inventory and planning
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
