Job Overview
As a Trainee Pizza Chef, you will work closely with our head chef to prepare, stretch, sauce, top, and bake authentic Italian pizzas. This is an incredible opportunity for a fresh culinary graduate to transition from the classroom to a fast-paced, professional artisanal kitchen. You will get hands-on experience working with specialized pizza ovens and high-quality ingredients.
Key Responsibilities
- Dough Mastery: Assist in the daily preparation of authentic Italian pizza dough, managing fermentation times and scaling.
- Station Prep: Hand-stretch dough to perfection (no rolling pins here!) and prep fresh toppings, gourmet sauces, and premium cheeses.
- Baking: Operate and manage high-temperature pizza ovens (wood-fired/deck) to achieve the perfect crust, char, and bake.
- Quality Control: Ensure every pizza leaving the station meets our high standards of presentation, taste, and authenticity.
- Kitchen Hygiene: Maintain strict cleanliness, sanitization, and food safety standards at your workstation.
- Inventory: Monitor ingredient freshness and assist in tracking kitchen stock.
What We Are Looking For
- Education: A degree or diploma in Culinary Arts or Hotel Management (with a strong focus or specialization in baking/culinary arts).
- Skills: Basic practical knowledge of pizza making, dough science, and classic Italian flavor profiles.
- Passion: A genuine love for Italian cuisine and a strong desire to master the art of being a Pizzaiolo.
- Traits: Quick learner, team player, and able to work efficiently under pressure during peak restaurant hours.
