PRODUCTION MANAGER – PVC / UPVC / CPVC PIPE MANUFACTURING

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Production Manager for a PVC Pipe Manufacturing Plant, preferably having previous experience with a renowned MNC or leading national PVC/UPVC/CPVC pipe manufacturing company.
The candidate will be responsible for complete production operations, productivity, quality, manpower, machine performance, raw-material consumption and wastage control.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage daily, weekly and monthly production of PVC/UPVC/CPVC pipes and related products.
- Achieve production targets while maintaining required quality, productivity and cost efficiency.
- Independently handle PVC pipe extrusion lines, including machine setting, die setting, sizing, cooling, haul-off, cutting and printing operations.
- Optimise extrusion parameters to achieve maximum output with minimum rejection and wastage.
- Monitor raw-material formulation, PVC resin, calcium carbonate, stabilizers, processing aids, lubricants, pigments and additives.
- Ensure proper mixing, batching and formulation control as per approved recipes.
- Closely monitor raw-material consumption versus finished-goods production and maintain accurate material reconciliation.
- Control scrap, rejection, reprocessing, start-up wastage and process losses.
- Establish product-wise standard consumption and wastage benchmarks.
- Monitor production in KG, metres and pieces against machine capacity and planned output.
- Improve OEE, machine utilisation, output per shift, cycle efficiency and labour productivity.
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance with the Maintenance Department to minimise machine downtime.
- Troubleshoot extrusion/process problems such as variation in weight, dimensions, surface finish, colour, thickness and other quality defects.
- Ensure compliance with applicable BIS/ISI standards and internal quality specifications.
- Coordinate with QC Laboratory for dimensional, pressure, impact and other required product testing.
- Manage production supervisors, operators, helpers, mixers and other shop-floor manpower.
- Prepare shift-wise manpower planning and monitor productivity.
- Maintain proper production records, machine logs, rejection records, downtime reports and material consumption reports.
- Coordinate with Stores, Purchase, Quality, Maintenance, Dispatch and Sales departments for smooth plant operations.
- Maintain adequate production and finished-goods levels based on sales orders and dispatch requirements.
- Implement 5S, SOPs, safety systems, preventive maintenance and continuous improvement practices.
- Identify opportunities for automation, energy saving, manpower optimisation and production cost reduction.

Candidate Profile
- Minimum 8–15 years of relevant experience in PVC/UPVC/CPVC pipe manufacturing.
- Previous experience with a reputed MNC or leading national pipe manufacturer is strongly preferred.
- Strong practical knowledge of PVC extrusion technology, formulation, processing parameters and troubleshooting.
- Proven ability to improve production output while controlling raw-material consumption, wastage, rejection and power cost.
- Strong understanding of BIS/ISI quality requirements for PVC pipe products.
- Good knowledge of production planning, inventory coordination and preventive maintenance.
- Strong leadership and shop-floor manpower management capabilities.
- ERP/MIS and good MS Excel knowledge preferred.
- Candidate should be hands-on and shop-floor oriented, rather than purely administrative.
Preferred Industry Background
Candidates previously associated with reputed PVC pipe manufacturers such as Astral, Supreme Industries, Finolex Industries, Prince Pipes, Ashirvad, Apollo Pipes or equivalent leading/MNC pipe manufacturing organisations will be preferred.
We are specifically looking for a Production Manager who can take complete ownership of production — from raw-material formulation and extrusion through quality, wastage control, productivity improvement and finished-goods output.
