Job SummaryThe Assistant Manager – Technical is responsible for the operation, maintenance, compliance, and continuous improvement of laboratory infrastructure and clean room facilities. The role ensures uninterrupted operation of critical systems, adherence to safety and quality standards, and support for laboratory activities through effective facility management and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities1. Clean Room Operations & MaintenanceManage day-to-day operations of clean rooms to ensure compliance with ISO, GMP, and company standards.
Monitor environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, differential pressure, and particle counts.
Ensure proper functioning of HVAC systems, HEPA filters, air handling units (AHUs), and clean room controls.
Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
2. Laboratory Infrastructure ManagementOversee maintenance of laboratory utilities and equipment.
Ensure availability and reliability of critical services including: HVAC systems Compressed air systems Vacuum systems Electrical distribution systems UPS and DG backup systems Water purification systems
Support installation, qualification, and commissioning of laboratory equipment.
3. Compliance & Quality AssuranceEnsure facility compliance with ISO 14644, GMP, GLP, EHS, and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and maintain SOPs, maintenance records, calibration records, and validation documents.
Support internal and external audits.
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) arising from audit observations.
4. Environmental MonitoringManage clean room environmental monitoring programs.
Review and analyze monitoring data and trends.
Investigate deviations and implement corrective measures.
Coordinate periodic certification and validation activities.
5. Safety & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with EHS standards and safety regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections.
Lead emergency response activities related to facility systems.
Promote safe work practices among employees and contractors.
6. Project ManagementSupport facility expansion, modification, and improvement projects.
Coordinate with vendors, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Monitor project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables.
Ensure successful commissioning and handover of systems.
7. Vendor & Contract ManagementManage AMC contracts and service providers.
Evaluate vendor performance and ensure SLA compliance.
Review maintenance reports and service documentation.
Optimize maintenance costs and enhance service effectiveness.
8. Team LeadershipSupervise technicians and maintenance staff.
Provide technical guidance and training.
Develop competency improvement plans for team members.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Required QualificationsEducation Diploma in Electrical engg or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering,
Experience5–8 years of experience in laboratory facilities, clean room operations, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, electronics, or R&D environments.
Experience in critical facility management and clean room maintenance.
