Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer with 6+ years of hands-on experience to join our Business Intelligence / Data Analytics team.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in building robust data models, developing interactive dashboards across the Power BI product suite, and strong working knowledge of MS Office tools to deliver actionable, decision-ready insights to business stakeholders.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data models (star schema, snowflake schema) to support enterprise reporting needs.
- Build interactive, visually compelling dashboards and reports using Power BI Desktop and publish/manage them via Power BI Service.
- Write complex DAX measures, calculated columns, and calculated tables for advanced analytics.
- Develop and optimize Power Query (M language) transformations for data extraction, cleansing, and shaping.
- Configure and manage Power BI Gateways for scheduled data refreshes from on-premise and cloud data sources.
- Build and maintain Dataflows and shared/reusable datasets to support self-service BI across teams.
- Develop Paginated Reports (via Power BI Report Builder) for pixel-perfect, print-ready reporting needs.
- Manage workspace administration, row-level security (RLS), and access governance within Power BI Premium/Fabric capacity.
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into clear technical specifications.
- Integrate Power BI outputs with MS Excel (Power Pivot, Power Query, pivot tables, advanced formulas) for hybrid reporting needs.
- Prepare and present insights using PowerPoint, embedding Power BI visuals into Office documents where required.
- Write and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures against relational databases/data warehouses feeding Power BI.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance tuning of models, queries, and reports.
- Document data models, ETL logic, and report specifications for long-term maintainability.
- Provide production support and troubleshoot data or report issues within agreed SLAs.
- Track new Power BI/Fabric capabilities and recommend adoption where it adds business value.
- Strong overall BI/Data Analytics experience, including 6+ years specifically on Power BI.
- Strong command of data modeling fundamentals — star/snowflake schemas, fact/dimension design, normalization vs. denormalization trade-offs.
- Advanced hands-on skills in DAX and Power Query (M).
- Working expertise across core subsets of the Power BI product:
- Power BI Desktop
- Power BI Service
- Power BI Report Builder (Paginated Reports)
- Power BI Gateway (Personal/On-premises)
- Dataflows
- Power BI Premium/Fabric capacity
- Strong proficiency in MS Office tools, particularly:
- Excel (Power Pivot, Power Query, pivot tables, advanced formulas)
- PowerPoint for stakeholder-ready presentations
- Solid SQL skills — complex joins, subqueries, stored procedures, and query performance tuning.
- Practical experience implementing RLS and administering workspaces/apps in Power BI Service.
- Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL pipelines.
- Experience connecting Power BI to varied sources (SQL Server, Azure services, Excel, SharePoint, REST APIs, etc.).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with close attention to data accuracy.
- Clear communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric and its integration with Power BI.
- Familiarity with Power Automate or Power Apps within the broader Power Platform.
- Working knowledge of Python or R for advanced/statistical analytics within Power BI.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, or similar cloud data platforms.
- Microsoft certification — PL-300: Power BI Data Analyst Associate.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Strong stakeholder management and requirements-gathering ability.
- Comfortable working independently across multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data quality and governance.
