The Role
As a Safety Designer Level II with Worley, you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc.
- Prepare and update process safety deliverables such as:
- Fire & Gas layouts
- Hazardous area classification drawings
- Escape route / safety layout drawings
- Safety system block diagrams
- Develop drawings using SmartPlant / AutoCAD / MicroStation / 3D tools.
- Incorporate engineer mark-ups and safety study outputs (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL) into drawings.
- Coordinate with Process Safety Engineers for design inputs and validation.
- Support preparation of:
- Cause & Effect diagrams (assist level)
- Safety equipment layouts (detectors, alarms, firefighting systems)
- Ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance in all deliverables.
- Perform self-checking and assist in peer reviews.
- Maintain proper documentation and version control.
- Coordinate with other disciplines (Instrumentation, Piping, Electrical).
About You
To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:
- Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience in:
- AutoCAD / MicroStation
- Exposure to SP3D / E3D / PDMS / SmartPlant tools
- Understanding of:
- Fire & Gas detection systems layouts
- Hazardous area classification standards
- Safety design philosophies
- Basic knowledge of:
- HAZOP, HAZID, SIL studies
- Process safety documentation
- Core Competencies
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to interpret engineering inputs and translate into drawings
- Strong coordination skills with multi-disciplinary teams
- Quality-focused and deadline-driven
- Preferred
- Experience in Oil & Gas / Offshore / EPC projects
- Exposure to brownfield / revamp projects
- Familiarity with international codes (API, NFPA, IEC)
- Education & Qualifications
- Diploma / Degree in Engineering (Chemical / Safety / Mechanical or relevant discipline)
- Certification or exposure to process safety concepts preferred
- Experience
- Typically 5–12 years in process safety design / drafting
