The Medical Gas Plant Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of the hospital's medical gas systems, including oxygen generation plants, compressed air systems, vacuum systems, manifold rooms, and associated pipeline networks. The role ensures uninterrupted, safe, and compliant delivery of medical gases to all clinical areas in accordance with hospital policies and statutory regulations.
- Operate and monitor the Medical Oxygen Generation Plant (PSA), air compressors, vacuum pumps, manifolds, and related equipment.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of oxygen, medical air, nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, and vacuum systems throughout the hospital.
- Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and breakdown maintenance of medical gas systems.
- Monitor pressure, purity, flow rates, alarms, and equipment performance parameters.
- Maintain daily operational logs, maintenance records, and equipment checklists.
- Perform cylinder changeovers and manifold operations safely.
- Identify equipment faults and carry out timely troubleshooting and repairs.
- Coordinate with biomedical and engineering teams during maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with NABH, NFPA, HTM, and applicable statutory safety standards.
- Respond immediately to medical gas emergencies and system alarms.
- Monitor oxygen purity and maintain records as per manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and safety within the medical gas plant room.
- Coordinate with external service providers for annual maintenance and calibration.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts, consumables, and medical gas cylinders.
- Follow infection control, fire safety, and occupational safety procedures.
- Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new medical gas equipment.
- ITI/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.
- Certification or training in Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS) is preferred
