- Inspect raw materials (fabric, foam, plastic components, metal frames) for consistency, colour accuracy, and flaws
- Verify the quality of critical mechanical parts such as gas cylinders (pneumatic lifts), casters, and tilt mechanisms
- Check for proper alignment of components, secure fastening of bolts/screws, and correct application of adhesives
- Test seat height adjustment, swivel rotation, backrest tilt/lock, and armrest maneuverability.
- Final Product Testing Perform drop tests, stability tests (front and rear), and load-bearing assessments as per ANSI/BIFMA guidelines.
- Inspect for surface imperfections like scratches on frames, uneven stitching on upholstery, or fabric tears.
- Maintain detailed inspection logs, including photos of defects and pass/fail results for every batch
Requirements
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using precision measurement tools like callipers, micrometres, and gauges.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with furniture-specific standards (e.g., ANSI/BIFMA or ISO 9001)
Attention to Detail: Ability to spot minor visual defects or mechanical inconsistencies that could impact long-term user safety.
Education: Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Experience: 1–3 years of QC experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in modular furniture or seating.
