Job Title: Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer

Budget: 3 – 3.5 LPA
Reports To: Engineering Manager / Maintenance Manager / Plant Manager
Job Summary
The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of electrical systems, instrumentation, automation equipment, and control systems within the plant. The role ensures reliable plant operations, equipment efficiency, regulatory compliance, and adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Engineering Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems including HT/LT panels, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, motors, and power distribution systems.
- Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Monitor electrical equipment performance and recommend improvements.
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply and efficient utilization of electrical resources.
- Coordinate electrical installations, upgrades, and commissioning activities.
- Monitor energy consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives.
Instrumentation & Automation Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot field instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical instruments.
- Maintain and support PLC, SCADA, DCS, HMI, and automation systems.
- Perform calibration and validation of instruments according to standards and schedules.
- Diagnose and resolve instrumentation and control system issues.
- Support process optimization through automation and control improvements.
- Maintain instrument calibration records and documentation.
General Responsibilities
- Prepare maintenance schedules, reports, and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and statutory regulations.
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, and utility teams to minimize downtime.
- Manage contractors and vendors during project execution and maintenance activities.
- Conduct root cause analysis of electrical and instrumentation failures.
- Support plant expansion, modification, and automation projects.
- Maintain spare parts inventory for electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
- Additional certification in Industrial Automation, PLC, SCADA, or Control Systems is preferred.
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance within manufacturing, power, chemical, pharmaceutical, food processing, FMCG, cement, steel, or process industries.
- Experience with industrial automation and control systems is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of HT/LT electrical systems and power distribution.
- Experience with motors, drives, transformers, switchgear, and control panels.
- Familiarity with PLC, SCADA, DCS, and HMI systems.
- Instrument calibration and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, loop diagrams, P&IDs, and control drawings.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and automation systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office and maintenance management systems.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Project planning and coordination capability.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
