Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer – Plumbing & Fire Fighting Systems to handle the design, engineering, coordination, and preparation of drawings for plumbing and fire protection systems for residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
The candidate should have strong technical knowledge of plumbing and firefighting system design, relevant codes and standards, and the ability to coordinate effectively with architects, structural engineers, MEP consultants, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineering of plumbing and firefighting systems for building projects.
- Prepare plumbing layouts, schematic diagrams, riser diagrams, and detailed engineering drawings.
- Design domestic water supply, flushing water, drainage, rainwater harvesting, and sanitary systems.
- Design firefighting systems including:
- Fire hydrant systems
- Sprinkler systems
- Fire water storage and pumping systems
- Hose reel systems
- Fire extinguishing systems
- Perform hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, pump selection, and equipment selection.
- Prepare BOQ, material specifications, technical specifications, and design calculations.
- Review architectural and structural drawings and identify MEP coordination requirements.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve clashes and design issues.
- Review shop drawings, contractor submissions, and technical documents.
- Attend project coordination meetings and provide technical support to site/project teams.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable NBC, IS, NFPA, and local authority requirements.
- Assist in preparing design reports, technical submissions, and project documentation.
- Conduct site visits when required to verify existing conditions and support project execution.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Plumbing and Fire Fighting system design.
- Good understanding of NBC, IS Codes, NFPA standards, and local fire authority requirements.
- Knowledge of hydraulic calculations and pipe network sizing.
- Familiarity with plumbing and firefighting equipment and systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Good understanding of MEP coordination and clash detection.
- Ability to prepare technical calculations, BOQs, and specifications.
Educational Qualification
- B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical, Civil, or relevant engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Plumbing & Fire Fighting system design.
