About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Tendering & Estimation professional with 10+ years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, Chemical, Process Plant, and Gas Compressor sectors.
The candidate will be responsible for managing the complete tendering and estimation process, including review of tender documents, technical and commercial evaluation, cost estimation, vendor enquiries, proposal preparation, risk assessment, and timely submission of competitive bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the complete tendering and estimation process from receipt of enquiry/tender through final submission.
- Review RFQs, tender documents, specifications, drawings, BOQs, scope of work, commercial terms, and contractual requirements.
- Analyze project scope and identify technical, commercial, contractual, and execution risks.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, quotations, BOQs, and commercial proposals.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Projects, Finance, and Business Development teams for bid preparation.
- Prepare and issue RFQs to vendors/subcontractors and obtain competitive quotations.
- Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations and prepare comparative statements.
- Develop accurate estimates for equipment, piping, mechanical works, process packages, gas compressors, installation, fabrication, manpower, materials, and other project requirements, as applicable.
- Prepare detailed rate analysis, cost sheets, price summaries, and bid comparison statements.
- Ensure compliance with client specifications, tender requirements, applicable codes, standards, and commercial conditions.
- Coordinate technical clarifications with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal engineering teams.
- Identify cost optimization and value-engineering opportunities without compromising technical requirements.
- Prepare commercial qualifications, exclusions, deviations, assumptions, and clarifications.
- Support management in establishing appropriate pricing, margins, contingencies, and commercial strategies.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, client discussions, negotiations, and tender clarification meetings.
- Maintain a database of project costs, vendor prices, subcontractor rates, and historical estimates.
- Monitor tender status, submission schedules, bid outcomes, and post-bid clarifications.
- Ensure all tenders are submitted accurately and within the required deadlines.
- Support Business Development and Sales teams during commercial negotiations and order finalization.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Chemical / Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Tendering, Estimation, Proposal Engineering, or Commercial functions within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, Chemical, Process Plant, or Gas Compressor industries.
- Strong knowledge of EPC / EP / turnkey project tendering and estimation.
- Experience in preparing technical and commercial bids for industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of equipment, piping, mechanical works, process systems, and project execution requirements.
- Experience in vendor/subcontractor enquiry, quotation evaluation, and commercial negotiations.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, BOQs, RFQs, and contractual conditions.
- Strong analytical, commercial, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office, and estimation/tendering tools.
- Experience with major EPC contractors, consultants, Oil & Gas companies, refineries, petrochemical companies, or process industries will be an advantage.
