Job Summary
We are looking for a Procurement Assistant to support the procurement team in sourcing materials, obtaining quotations, coordinating with suppliers, preparing purchase documentation, and ensuring timely availability of materials for shipbuilding and ship repair activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in procurement of shipbuilding materials, equipment, consumables, tools, and spare parts.
- Prepare RFQs and collect quotations from approved and potential suppliers.
- Compare supplier quotations based on price, quality, delivery schedule, and payment terms.
- Coordinate with suppliers for availability, delivery status, and required documentation.
- Prepare and process Purchase Requisitions (PR), Purchase Orders (PO), and related procurement documents.
- Follow up on pending orders to ensure timely delivery of materials to the shipyard.
- Maintain procurement records, supplier databases, quotation comparisons, and purchase order trackers.
- Coordinate with Production, Stores, Engineering, Accounts, and other departments regarding material requirements.
- Assist in identifying new suppliers and obtaining competitive quotations.
- Support invoice verification and coordination with Accounts for payment processing.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company procedures and approved budgets.
- Monitor material shortages and escalate critical procurement delays to the Procurement Manager.
Preferred Skills
- Good knowledge of procurement processes and vendor coordination.
- Understanding of shipbuilding/ship repair materials and marine equipment will be an advantage.
- Good communication, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and procurement MIS.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Qualification & Experience
- Qualification: Diploma / Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
- Experience: 2–5 years of relevant procurement experience.
- Shipyard / marine / engineering industry experience preferred.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
