About Vikra Ocean Tech
Vikra Ocean Tech is a pioneering, well-funded deep-tech startup specializing in indigenous ocean robotics and marine technology solutions. We design and manufacture cutting-edge Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASVs), amphibious robots, and AI-enabled deep-sea imaging systems. Our mission is to reduce reliance on imported underwater robotics by delivering mission-ready systems for defense, subsea inspection, and the blue economy.
Role Overview
We are looking for a passionate and highly motivated entry-level Junior Design Engineer to join our engineering hub in Bengaluru. In this role, you will work closely with our senior engineers and cross-functional R&D teams to design, model, and test mechanical components for complex subsea and marine hardware. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in the deep-tech and robotics sector.
Key Responsibilities
- 3D Modeling & Drafting: Assist in creating detailed 3D models, structural assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
- Component Design: Support the conceptualization and design of subsea hardware, including structural frames, pressure housings, sensor mounts, and thruster integrations.
- Engineering Analysis: Work under the guidance of senior engineers to run basic structural, thermal, and fluid dynamics simulations (FEA/CFD) on marine components.
- Prototyping & Fabrication: Participate in the physical prototyping phase, including 3D printing and working with vendors for machining and sheet metal fabrication.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with electronics and software teams to ensure sensors, cameras, and PCBs fit securely inside watertight enclosures.
- Documentation: Maintain clear technical documentation, bill of materials (BOM), and design reports for all assigned projects.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: B.E. or B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering (Recent graduates are highly encouraged to apply).
- Experience: 0–1 year of experience. (Internships, academic design projects, or participation in student competitions like SAE, AUVSI, or robotics clubs are a massive plus).
- Technical Skills:
- Good foundational proficiency in at least one major CAD/CAM tool (Fusion ,SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD).
- Strong understanding of core engineering fundamentals: mechanics of materials, fluid mechanics, kinematics, and thermodynamics.
- Basic familiarity with analysis software (ANSYS) is advantageous.
- Hands-on Aptitude: A strong desire to build things physically. Familiarity with basic manufacturing processes, machining limits, and rapid prototyping.
- Soft Skills: Eagerness to learn, strong problem-solving mindset, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced startup environment.
