Job Description: Homeroom Teacher (Grade 1)

About the Role
Meluha International School is seeking a passionate, nurturing, and dedicated Homeroom Teacher (Grade 1) to create a joyful and engaging learning environment for young learners transitioning into formal schooling. The Homeroom Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, fostering students' academic, social, and emotional development, and building a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

The Homeroom Teacher will work closely with parents, academic coordinators, and fellow educators to ensure a positive and enriching educational experience for every student.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Classroom Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons aligned with the CBSE curriculum and school learning objectives.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and active participation.
- Foster the development of literacy, numeracy, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and individual student needs.
- Integrate hands-on activities, storytelling, technology, and experiential learning into daily teaching practices.
2. Student Development & Well-being
- Support the holistic development of students, including their academic, emotional, social, and behavioural growth.
- Build positive relationships with students and encourage confidence, independence, and responsibility.
- Promote positive classroom behaviour through consistent expectations and effective classroom management.
- Identify students requiring additional academic or emotional support and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to provide timely interventions.
- Encourage students to participate actively in classroom discussions, projects, and school activities.
3. Assessment & Academic Monitoring
- Conduct continuous assessments to evaluate student learning and progress.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and academic achievements.
- Prepare report cards, assessment records, and other academic documentation within stipulated timelines.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and implement strategies to address learning gaps.
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods to improve learning outcomes.
4. Parent Communication & Collaboration
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians.
- Communicate regularly regarding student progress, achievements, and areas requiring improvement.
- Participate in Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs), orientation programmes, and other school events.
- Respond professionally and promptly to parent queries while maintaining confidentiality and school protocols.
5. Classroom Administration
- Maintain an organised, engaging, and well-equipped classroom environment.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching resources, and classroom displays that support student learning.
- Ensure proper care and effective utilisation of classroom materials and school resources.
- Support school events, assemblies, educational excursions, and co-curricular activities as assigned.
- Comply with all school policies, safeguarding procedures, and academic guidelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in any discipline.
- B.Ed. mandatory.
- Diploma or certification in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Primary Education will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in Primary Grades, preferably Grade 1, under the CBSE curriculum.
- Freshers with exceptional communication skills and a strong passion for primary education may also be considered.
