About the Role
Envigaurd is looking for a detail-oriented HVAC Draftsman to prepare accurate design and installation drawings for our HVAC and turnkey MEP projects. The role sits at the core of our design team, translating engineering calculations and site requirements into clear, code-compliant drawings that guide procurement, fabrication, and site execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare HVAC layout drawings, ducting layouts, piping layouts, schematic diagrams (SLD/DLD), and coordination drawings using AutoCAD (2D/3D).
- Draft installation drawings for supply air, return air, fresh air, and exhaust air ductwork, including duct insulation details.
- Detail ductwork components: plenum boxes, grilles, diffusers, fire dampers, VCDs, louvers, and sound attenuators.
- Prepare shop drawings and as-built drawings for HVAC systems on active projects.
- Support duct and pipe sizing calculations under the guidance of the design engineer, using standard tools (McQuay Duct Sizer, McQuay Pipe Sizer, or equivalent).
- Coordinate drawings with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines (electrical, plumbing, fire-fighting) to avoid clashes.
- Assist in preparing BOQ/BOM documentation and material take-offs based on finalized drawings.
- Incorporate ASHRAE / SMACNA / ISHRAE / local building code standards into all drafting work.
- Revise drawings promptly based on site feedback, RFIs, and design changes.
- Maintain organized drawing records and version control for all project documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- 1–4 years of experience in HVAC drafting for commercial, institutional, or residential projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D is mandatory.
- Working knowledge of duct/pipe sizing software (McQuay Duct Sizer, McQuay Pipe Sizer, or similar) is preferred.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE, SMACNA, and ISHRAE standards.
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems: AHU, FCU, VRV/VRF, chillers, cooling towers, split AC systems.
- Exposure to Revit MEP / BIM workflows is an added advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret site survey data and engineering calculations into precise drawings.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with design engineers, site teams, and other MEP disciplines.
Preferred Attributes
- Prior experience in a turnkey MEP contracting or consulting environment.
- Ability to manage multiple drawing revisions and tight project timelines.
- Willingness to visit project sites for measurements and coordination when required.
