We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Farm Manager to lead our agricultural enterprise. With a minimum of 10 years of professional experience, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management, profitability, and daily operations of the farm. This role requires a blend of traditional agricultural expertise and modern business management to ensure sustainable growth, high yields, and efficient resource allocation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Strategy: Design and implement comprehensive cropping/livestock strategies and long-term land management plans.
- Financial Management: Full accountability for the farm budget. This includes cost analysis, financial forecasting, and managing the Profit & Loss (P&L) statement.
- Procurement & Vendor Relations: Negotiate contracts for seeds, fertilizers, machinery, and technology. Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Personnel Leadership: Direct and mentor a team of supervisors, field workers, and specialized technicians. Foster a culture of accountability and safety.
- Technology Adoption: Integrate precision agriculture tools, GPS mapping, and automated irrigation or feeding systems to optimize production.
- Compliance & Certification: Ensure the farm meets all local and national agricultural regulations, environmental standards, and quality certifications (e.g., GlobalG.A.P. or Organic).
- Maintenance & Infrastructure: Oversee the upkeep of high-value assets, including tractors, harvesters, irrigation infrastructure, and storage facilities.
- Reporting: Provide monthly data-driven reports to the owners/board regarding yield, efficiency, and market trends.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 10+ years in a commercial farming environment, with at least 4 years in a senior management role.
- Education: Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agribusiness, or a related field. An MBA or advanced management training is highly preferred.
- Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of agricultural commodities, supply chain logistics, and market fluctuations.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of soil science, pest management, and water conservation.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Farm Management Software (e.g., Granular, AgriWebb, or similar ERPs).
- Communication: Strong negotiation skills and the ability to present complex data to stakeholders.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and travel across different sectors of the farm.
- Willingness to work irregular hours during peak seasons (planting/harvesting).
