Location: Pune
This role owns the internal and leadership communications, thought leadership and PR agenda in technology automotive.
You will build and run our comms operating system across internal and media communications, so that our messages are crisp, timely, and consistent. If you’re a strategic storyteller who can switch gears from crafting a CEO note to pitching a byline to a tech publication, this role is for you.
What You’ll Own & Deliver
1. Internal communications
- Build and run our internal and external newsletter (BTI Drive and Code to Road) aligned to business priorities (Digital Car, Digital Company, DPE, People/HR milestones, culture and values).
- Plan, script, and produce townhalls, employee connects, change communications, and site updates for Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
- Govern and optimise channels: intranet/Point BTI Hive), MS Teams communities, email newsletters, digital signage, and leadership updates.
- Create communication toolkits and templates for BU leaders and HR partners; set standards for tone, visuals, accessibility, and brand compliance.
- Establish a cross-site content network of champions to surface stories, celebrate wins, and ensure message consistency.
2. Leadership comms
- Shape and manage executive narratives; ghostwrite speeches, scripts, op-eds, Q&As, and LinkedIn posts for India leadership.
- Prepare briefing packs (decks, talking points, media notes) for board visits, BMW Group delegations, and customer/stakeholder engagements.
- Coach leaders on message discipline/guidelines, inclusive language, and delivery; run rehearsals for high-stakes moments (townhalls, launches, media interactions).
3. Thought Leadership, PR & Media Enablement
- Develop thought leadership roadmap across our delivery and business priority domains
- We don’t have any dedicated PR agency, thus one important role is to identify earned/owned opportunities: press notes, bylines, analyst briefings, awards, conferences.
- Develop media relations, secure interviews
4. Global collaboration
- Serve as the India comms hub, aligning and integrating updates across Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai; align with HR, Facilities, TA, and Business Ops.
- Partner with BMW Group Communications (Munich) and other global hubs to align messages, stories and updates. Learn more about what are the other hubs are doing, stories etc.
- Maintain a transparent stakeholder map; drive regular cadence
5. Editorial Excellence & Brand Governance
- Maintain BMW TechWorks India’s voice - Vibrant, Open, Collaborative, Agile, and Lean, across all content.
- Own the content review workflow (brief draft SME/legal design approval publish measure).
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders unit heads, cluster heads and maintain and our external and internal newsletters BTI Drive and Code to Road
- Keep our Intranet portal BTI Hive up to date
- Script and produce site townhalls; manage logistics with Facilities/IT, HRBP
- Ghostwrite LinkedIn posts for leaders
- Build press materials (press notes, fact sheets) and partner with media on distribution and follow-ups
- Keep a tidy content repository and a master calendar of events, visits, milestones, and releases.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5 - 10 years of experience in Corporate/Employee Communications, PR, or Journalism; tech/IT/engineering context preferred
- Proven record of executive communications (speechwriting, ghostwriting, messaging frameworks) and internal comms.
- Comfort working in a global matrix with multiple stakeholders, and time zones.
- Strong editorial judgement; ability to translate complex engineering topics into clear, human language.
- Proficiency with tools: MS 365 (Teams, Point), email/newsletter platforms, media databases, project tools (Jira), and PowerPoint.
