A Barista is responsible for preparing and serving coffee, tea, and other beverages while providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced café environment. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for quality food and drink.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and specialty items
- Operate coffee machines, grinders, blenders, and other café equipment
- Take customer orders accurately and process payments using POS systems
- Provide friendly, efficient, and personalized customer service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, café, and equipment
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
- Restock supplies and assist with inventory management
- Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth operations
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Previous experience as a barista or in food service (preferred but not required)
- Knowledge of coffee brewing methods and beverage preparation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic math and cash-handling skills
- Attention to detail and consistency in product quality
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to lift and carry supplies (up to 25 lbs / 11 kg)
- Manual dexterity to operate coffee equipment
